What Happens When the Path to Healing Leads Deeper into Darkness?

For over thirty years, I was on a relentless quest for peace, fulfilment, and healing. I had a successful career that many would envy—I worked as a business journalist, contributing to Australia's equivalent of The Wall Street Journal. On the outside, it looked like I was thriving, but behind the scenes, my life told a different story.

Beneath the career accomplishments and polished image, my soul was lost, desperately searching for meaning and wholeness. And above all – love.

I was raised a Catholic, even attending a convent school. So I thought I understood my Christian religion pretty well – but as it turned out, I never really knew Jesus.

As I became increasingly unhappy, I turned to New Age practices. Astrology, self-help, crystals, yoga and spiritual guides—all promise to reveal the secrets of peace and purpose.

They offered paths to healing and answers that I desperately sought, but the deeper I ventured, the more entangled I became in spiritual confusion and deception. Instead of finding the light, I found myself drawn further into shadows.

The practices I thought would heal me left me feeling fragmented and empty, like I was constantly reaching but never able to touch the peace I craved. It was like being on a perpetual hamster wheel, thinking that the next fix would be around the corner when, really, it was just more of the same.

The answers I sought couldn’t be found in horoscopes, crystal readings, or motivational seminars.

These were only temporary fixes, and my spirit remained restless. At my lowest point, I knew I was missing something, but I couldn’t find it on my own. I didn’t realise it then, but God had been waiting for me all along.

It wasn’t until I was truly broken that, in a moment of despair, I met Jesus.

I let go of everything I thought I knew and surrendered to His love. What happened next was nothing short of miraculous. Jesus met me right where I was—He broke through years of deception, hurt, and spiritual bondage.

For the first time, I experienced a peace that wasn’t fleeting. His love filled the emptiness I’d been carrying for so long, offering not just healing but true freedom.

Since that transformative moment, my life has never been the same. I was no longer defined by my past, by the choices I’d made, or by the spiritual confusion that had once consumed me. Jesus lifted me out of that darkness, and in His light, I found the love, grace, and clarity I had been searching for all along.

I wrote L.O.V.E. as a testimony of this journey. It’s more than just a story of my deliverance from the New Age; it’s a message for anyone who feels trapped, lost, or broken by life. This isn’t simply about religion—it’s about a relationship with the

One who knows us completely and loves us unconditionally.
